ABOUT ME
I'm Alison and I'm a recent graduate from Brandeis University. I've been living in the Greater Boston area for more than half my life, so I love exploring the city and the suburbs to find new restaurants and cool places! I have a background in the sciences but have always loved cooking and baking, so I decided to start my food Instagram account back in August 2018 and keep it up as a fun side project during the school semester.
Food, to me, is a kind of artistry. So it's not a surprise that plating, presentation, and photographing beautiful food really appealed to me, since I already love expressing my creative side through other types of art like painting and drawing. But food is definitely still being recognized as a new art form. A lot of people expect this kind of artistry in the way that chefs plate up and present beautiful food in fine dining, but it's also an art to take a good photo of your food (restaurant or home-cooked) to show your audience and make them want to try it. I still remember being embarrassed around friends or family back when it wasn't common to take lots of photos of your food, but it seems like now, it's much more of a norm. I've been fortunate enough to work with many brands and restaurants, but every day there's still something to learn about food photography! I just love how food gives us the ability to connect with people from different cultures, races, countries, etc. I love being able to support my local businesses and share dishes I love, and I'm so happy that my food blog has allowed me to meet so many amazing people! Thanks for joining me on this journey! -Alison |
